"I’m Alistaire, founder of @cb1groupco, a construction company based in Cambridge. I started the business back in 2012 after losing my mum. It gave me something to focus on, and I never imagined it would grow into what it is today.

Over the years, CB1 has expanded into three branches — Building & Carpentry, Electrical, and Plumbing & Heating — working on residential renovations and commercial fit-outs across Cambridge. We have an amazing team and have been truly lucky to work on some incredible buildings and alongside some truly iconic local businesses who’ve become great partners and friends along the way.

Outside of work, I’m a proud dad of three boys, and my partner Lottie an amazing mum and who has been my rock through all the highs and lows of running a business.

We moved to Fordham in 2017 after the busy pace of city life, and fell in love with the village straight away. Opening Roost here feels really special — a way of bringing something we as a family love and care about to a community we’re proud to be part of."

"I'm Dan, I have a digital marketing company called @dh12_socials which I launched in 2023!

I moved into the digital marketing space after starting out in sports coaching. I never imagined I would be doing anything other than a sports based job, but I discovered a real passion for social media and content creation in 2018.

I love the variety my business provides and we get to work with so many interesting people in a variety of sectors. Being creative on a daily basis is probably the most enjoyable, yet challenging, part of the job.

I am truly blessed to have 2 very special girls in my life! Firstly my girlfriend, Sasha whose constant support I could not live without & my 7 year old daughter Ella, who is the most important part of my life; I feel truly lucky to have them.

Opening roost is a mixture of a passion & a dream. I love coffee & I have always wanted to open and own a coffee shop. Being able to do this in on my own village, with a friend I went to school with almost 20 years ago makes it all the more special."
